Special Exhibition “Great Swords of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu” ~Spirit of Samurai in History~

The swords of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, including National Treasure, Important Cultural Property, are exhibited for the first time in half a century!

The sword, which is called the masterpiece of iron and is said to be the beginning of Japanese manufacturing, is not only a weapon but also a place where the divine spirit dwells. Many swords have been dedicated at this shrine as a proof of the worship of samurai since the foundatin of Minamotono Yoritomo. In this exhibition, National Treasure, "Ikakeji-Gyoyo-Raden-Tachi," the sword "Masatsune," and Important Cultural Property, the sword “Kuniyoshi” dedicated by the Emperor Meiji, the three swords dedicated by Hojo Ujitsuna are displayed for the first time in half a century. In addition, artifacts related to famed samurai are also exhibited (Exhibits will be changed). 65 shrine treasures, including 6 national treasures and 12 important cultural properties, tell the spirit of samurai in 800 years of history.
